Real Estate vs. Stock Market Investing

There is no such thing as a safe investment.  When money is used to make more money, it’s always a risk even at the best economic conditions.  Among the things that people invest in are real estate and the stock market.  While the stock market is more like a gamble, real estate is in a sense putting money to sleep until it’s a good time to sell.  The market has its ups and downs when it comes to properties.  The rise and fall is not easily predicted.  One has to always be in the know of what big developers and real estate moguls are doing to have a grasp of the market surge.

There are two things to which one can invest in real estate: land and built structures.  Land is always a good asset.  No matter what happens around the world, land will always be present and one will retain ownership to it.  As for condominiums and ready for occupancy structures, it entails quite a lot of responsibility when it comes to maintenance but it can be utilized to pay off amortization.  Location is always the key to a good rental property. Without renters, owners lose money, simply put.  Real estate is not easily turned liquid. Investors have to wait for 5 to 10 years to make appropriate income. While waiting, property owners have to pray that no natural disaster will strike as they significantly land value.  When it comes to real estate, land is always the best bet but it may take years before it makes money.  A property owner cannot get into a slump for as long as he’ll have a place to sell or live into on worst case economic scenarios.

Stock investment’s liquidity is more appealing to young investors. Unlike real estate investment that requires a large amount of cash and a good banking status, joining the stock market does not require much to get started, and one can earn pretty quickly especially when the investor understands the ins and outs of big businesses.  Income through shares is either paid through cash dividends or appreciated shares. Share holders simply need to sell when they need to but it may also take years before the investment has made money.  There’s also penny stocks whose system is similar to gambling.  It is very risky but the income is quick to come, if one has a good feel of the market.
